There is a Kingdom that has always been, and will always be. It is found in the heart of Jehovah God who has no beginning or end. He lives in eternity, and rules over all that exist. Before time began, before you were born, God had an eternal purpose for your life. The only way to find and fulfill this eternal purpose is through a relationship with The Eternal King, Jesus Christ. This blog is about The Eternal King and His Kingdom. It is about how you can be part of His Kingdom by having a relationship with Him, and fulfilling His eternal purpose for you.

ACKNOWLEDGE GOD IS IN CHARGE!

THOUGHTS ON THE ETERNAL KINGDOM
ACKNOWLEDGE GOD IS IN CHARGE!!

Until we admit that God is in charge of all that is happening in our lives we will not be able to properly deal with the bad things that come our way.

Bad things come from satan.  Sometimes they come simply because God leads us into satan’s territory to defeat him and establish God’s Kingdom on Earth as it is in Heaven.  Sometimes they come because there are things in our lives that do not please God and leave us open to the enemy’s attacks. God allows these attacks so we can overcome the devil and become more like Jesus.  Only by understanding that God is in charge can we properly deal with the bad things that come our way and have the victories God wants us to have.

Question: Have you acknowledged that God is in charge of all that’s happening in your life?

SCRIPTURES:   Psalms 22;28, Jeremiah 23:23, John 19:11 and Romans 8:28

IS IT THE GOSPEL OF THE KINGDOM?

THOUGHTS ON THE ETERNAL KINGDOM
IS IT THE GOSPEL OF THE KINGDOM?

Recently a friend of mine posted a picture on Facebook of a group sharing The Gospel in an open-air meeting overseas.  My thoughts went to what Jesus Christ said about The Gospel of The Kingdom will be preached to the whole world and then the end will come.  My next thought was, “Is what is being preached The Gospel of The Kingdom?”

In what we call The Lord’s Prayer, the first thing Jesus said we should pray for was that His Kingdom would come and His will would be done on Earth as it is in Heaven.  It is clear from this that The Gospel of The Kingdom is more than getting saved from Hell and going to Heaven.  It is about receiving The Eternal Life of God so we can do our part to bring God’s Kingdom on Earth as it is in Heaven.

The first thing John the Baptist and Jesus preached was “repent for The Kingdom of Heaven is at hand”. In Matthew 10:7 Christ told His followers to preach the same thing.  Jesus said that The Kingdom is not a place you go to, but something that lives within you when you receive His Eternal Life. The rich young ruler was a good man and a faithful church goer, but he knew from The Gospel of The Kingdom Jesus preached that something was missing.  His question was, “what must I do to inherit Eternal Life?”  Jesus made it clear in Luke 14:26, 27, and 33 that there are three things that must be surrendered to God in order to receive Eternal Life: relationships, goals and ambitions, and possessions. The Gospel of The Kingdom is a message that leads people to surrender these things to the Lordship of Christ.

Most people want to escape Hell and go to Heaven.  Some are even willing to say that they believe Jesus died on the cross for them and say a prayer so they can get there.  Saying a prayer won’t get you to Heaven if there is no repentance or heart surrender. Only through repentance and heart surrender can you be birthed into God’s Kingdom and receive His Eternal Life.  There is no record in the Bible of early preachers of The Gospel leading someone in a prayer.  Instead they spoke the truth of The Kingdom in such a way that people would ask them what they needed to do to be saved. Paul said there were two things he preached everywhere he went, “repentance toward God and faith in The Lord Jesus Christ”. Many today talk about faith in Jesus but fail to mention repentance or the need for Christ’s Lordship. Paul preached these things because he understood that God’s Kingdom is coming on Earth as it is in Heaven in the hearts of people.  He knew that for this to happen there needed to be deep repentance and a turning away from all that offends God and is contrary to His Kingdom.  Paul understood that being birthed into The Kingdom required falling in love with Jesus Christ, and that the person being birthed must surrender their heart and will to His Lordship.

There are many today inside and outside the church who have not heard The Gospel of The Kingdom.  Many would receive The Kingdom if they heard the message of The Kingdom.  This message is the world’s only hope. It is the only message that will bring God’s Kingdom on Earth as it is in Heaven.  When God’s Kingdom fully comes, there will be peace on Earth and everyone’s needs will be met.  These things will not happen any other way.

Question: Is the message you are sharing about salvation The
                     Gospel of The Kingdom?

SCRIPTURES:   Matthew 24:14, and 6:10; Matthew 3:2, 4:17, and 10:7; John 3:16 and 17:3; Acts 2:38; Luke 17:21; Romans 10:8; Matthew 19:16; Mark 10:17; Luke 18:18 and 14:26,27,33;
and Acts 2:37, 16:30 and  20:21

UNITY IS A BY-PRODUCT!

THOUGHTS ON THE ETERNAL KINGDOM
UNITY IS A BY- PRODUCT!!!

Unity in The Body of Christ is a by-product of making disciples who are committed to Jesus Christ and His Kingdom above all else.  People who are sold out to Jesus have no problem helping others to do the same. They automatically love everyone who loves The Lord, even those who are still growing to know Him. People who are building their own kingdom find it very difficult to lead people to that deep commitment they need to have in order to live in unity with the rest of The Body of Christ as part of God’s Kingdom. This is because it may take people away from their kingdom.

Questions: 1. Are you a disciple who is committed to Jesus Christ
and His Kingdom above all else?

                  2. Are you helping make disciples who are committed to                        Jesus Christ and His Kingdom above all else?

SCRIPTURE:   Matthew 6:33, and 28:18-20; and Ephesians 4:1-16

2018 A YEAR FOR THE ETERNAL KINGDOM

THOUGHTS ON THE ETERNAL KINGDOM
2018 A YEAR FOR THE ETERNAL KINGDOM!!

As 2018 began we were in an area of The World closed to the open proclamation of the good news about Jesus.  We were praying for God’s Kingdom to come on Earth as it is in Heaven.  God spoke to my heart that 2018 was a year that people needed to focus on The Eternal Kingdom.  They needed to make the establishing of God’s Kingdom in the hearts of all mankind their number one priority.

It is easy to get caught up in the busyness of life. Things like finances, health issues, retirement, and personal needs can keep us from focusing on The Kingdom. God’s promise to us is that if we make His Kingdom our number one priority He will take care of all these other things. We know a couple who are retirement age.  They have made God’s Kingdom their number one priority most of their adult life. They lived for years with no regular income trusting God to meet each need as they sought to fulfill His purpose for their lives. Now that they are in their retirement years they have more than they need even though they never worried about retirement.

God is faithful.  He is calling every follower of Jesus to make living for The Kingdom their number one priority.  This means more than just going to church meetings or serving in some church organization. It means living each day seeking to hear God’s voice and doing what He wants us to do so people will become part of The Eternal Kingdom through a commitment to follow Jesus with all their heart.  If we will do this He will meet all the other needs which distract from living for The Kingdom.

Question: Is living for The Eternal Kingdom your number one priority in 2018?

THE GOSPEL OF THE KINGDOM!!

THOUGHTS ON THE ETERNAL KINGDOM
THE GOSPEL OF THE KINGDOM!!

The Gospel of The Kingdom is not that Jesus died to save people from Hell and take them to Heaven.  It is that Jesus died to set people free from the power of sin to serve The Living God so they can do their part to establish The Eternal Kingdom on Earth as it is in Heaven.

Question: Are you sharing The Gospel of The Kingdom?

TRUE FREEDOM

THOUGHTS ON THE ETERNAL KINGDOM
TRUE FREEDOM!!

Some people feel that freedom is being able to
fulfill their personal desires; living to please
themselves, doing what they want to do, and being
able to have whatever they want. This is not freedom,
but a deception from the devil that makes us a slave to the lust of the flesh. The fruit of this type of self-determination is a wasted life and the destruction of the person’s soul in the fires of Hell forever.

“True Freedom” is being freed from our destructive lust so we can fulfill God’s eternal purpose for our lives. This produces an eternal reward that cannot be taken away. This can only happen when we turn from the desire to please ourselves and give God control of our lives. We must decide to love Jesus with all our heart, soul and mind because of what He did on The Cross for us.  Then we need to repent of our sins and make Him Lord of our life. God then gives us the indwelling presence of His Holy Spirit. His Spirit living in us enables us to have victory over the lust of the flesh.  The power of His Spirit enables us to fulfill God’s eternal purpose for us.  This is “True Freedom”. This type of freedom gives our life eternal meaning and allows us to be part of God’s blessed heavenly Kingdom forever.

Question: Are you living in “True Freedom”?

SCRIPTURES:  James 1:13-15 ; 1 John 2:15-17;  Proverbs 14:12 & 16:25; Ephesians 5:3-7;
John 8:31-32&34-36; Galatians 6:7-8; Romans 8:5-14 & 6:12-13

THOUGHTS ON THE ETERNAL KINGDOM

THOUGHTS ON THE ETERNAL KINGDOM
AN OPPORTUNITY!!
(It’s time for The Kingdom!)

God has poured out His mercy and grace on the United States of America once again.  He has delivered us from the hands of those who had a wicked agenda.  May we use this as an opportunity to seek His face and turn from those things that displease Him.  May we not continue down the path of living to please ourselves.  May we instead live to do His will and build His Kingdom on Earth as it is in Heaven.  May we pray for our political and religious leaders to have God’s wisdom and do His will.  Only then can we continue to experience His mercy, grace and blessings.

QUESTION:  Are you seeking God’s will for your life and praying for those in leadership?

WHEN JESUS COMES AGAIN

When Jesus comes again it WILL NOT be to rescue a church that's about to be defeated by God's enemy, satan. IT WILL BE to join His triumphant Church, the Body of Christ, that has prevailed against the gates of Hell.

HOW GOD'S KINGDOM COMES ON EARTH AS IT IS IN HEAVEN!

THOUGHTS ON THE ETERNAL KINGDOM
HOW GOD’S KINGDOM COMES ON EARTH AS IT IS IN HEAVEN!

Inside each person is an eternal being called the human soul.  When that being surrenders itself completely to God through faith in the redeeming work of Jesus on the cross, the eternal living word Jesus enters it by The Spirit, and gives it eternal life.  Jesus called this new birth, or being born again. When a person is truly born again, God’s Kingdom comes to earth in their heart.  That person will seek to know God.  They will meditate on His Word, The Bible, and apply it to their life. They will also learn to hear and obey the voice of The Holy Spirit.  Most of all they will seek to fulfill God’s purpose for their life instead of living to satisfy their personal desires.  If this does not happen, that person’s soul will be eternally dead separated from the life of God.

SCRIPTURES:  Genesis 2:7; Romans 10:9-10; Luke 14 26, 27, & 33; John 3; Luke 17:21; John 17:3, Matthew 6:33, 7:7-11; Psalms 1; John 10:27; Matthew 12:50

VIOLENCE & THE KINGDOM

THOUGHTS ON THE ETERNAL KINGDOM
VIOLENCE AND THE KINGDOM

Seek peace and pursue it; but understand that The Kingdom of God is forcefully advancing, and violent people are attacking it.  For this reason you need to be prepared with funds, a “Go” bag and a weapon.

Do not concern yourself with worldly needs, but seek to help people become part of The Eternal Kingdom. As you go about your daily life help people see The Kingdom by what you say and do. Work for justice. “Help the down-and-out. Stand up for the homeless. Fight for the defenseless. You’re here to defend the defenseless, to make sure that underdogs get a fair break.” “Rescue the poor and helpless; deliver them from the grasp of evil people.  Your job is to stand up for the powerless, and act against all those who exploit them."   If you see a person being attacked by evil people and do nothing to help them, does God’s love dwell in you?

Remember whatever you do in word and deed must not be done for selfish reasons, but to bring glory to God.  “Do your best, prepare for the worst—then trust GOD to bring victory.”  “The world is unprincipled. It’s dog-eat-dog out there! The world doesn’t fight fair.” God teaches us how to fight the battles we face in life.  As followers of Jesus “we don’t live or fight our battles the world’s way—never have and never will.  The tools of our trade aren’t for marketing or manipulation, but they are for demolishing that entire massively corrupt culture.  We use our powerful God-tools for smashing warped philosophies, tearing down barriers erected against the truth of God, fitting every loose thought and emotion and impulse into the structure of life shaped by Christ.”
“Our tools are ready at hand for clearing the ground of every obstruction and building lives of obedience into maturity.  That about wraps it up. God is strong, and He wants you strong.  So take everything the Master has set out for you, well-made weapons of the best materials. And put them to use so you will be able to stand up to everything the devil throws your way.  This is no afternoon athletic contest that we’ll walk away from and forget about in a couple of hours. This is for keeps, a life-or-death fight to the finish against the devil and all his angels. Be prepared. You’re up against far more than you can handle on your own. Take all the help you can get, every weapon God has issued, so that when it’s all over but the shouting you’ll still be on your feet.  Truth, righteousness, peace, faith, and salvation are more than words. Learn how to apply them. You’ll need them throughout your life. God’s Word is an indispensable weapon. In the same way, prayer is essential in this ongoing warfare. Pray hard and long. Pray for your brothers and sisters. Keep your eyes open. Keep each other’s spirits up so that no one falls behind or drops out.”

Question:  Are you doing your best and prepared for the worst as you seek to be used of God to establish His Kingdom on earth?

Scriptures:  The message above is a personal paraphrase and quotes from
Psalms 34:14; Matthew 11:12; Luke 22:36; Matthew 6:25-34, 10:7-8; Isaiah 1:17;
Psalms 82:3-4; 1 John 3:17; Colossians 3:17; Psalms 144:1; Proverbs 21:31;
 2 Corinthians 10:3-6, and Ephesians 6:10-18
The quotes are from the NKJV, The Message, and the NLT.

NOTE: Some reading this message may be concerned about Luke 22:36.  It seems to stand in direct contradiction to Matthew 26:52.  From experience we should know when two scriptures seem to contradict each other that there is a deeper truth somewhere.  It can only be found by searching out other scriptures.  If Jesus literally meant that everyone who used earthly weapons to fight would die by those weapons many good men would die violent deaths.  David, a man of war, died peacefully in His bed.  The traditional understanding of Matthew is better stated “Those who live by the sword shall die by the sword.”  A deeper study of the words used there allow for this interpretation.  As we understand it Jesus was rebuking Peter for depending on the arm of flesh rather than allowing himself to be guided by The Spirit.  Being led of The Spirit does not mean we can’t use things of this world when fighting our battles.  It does mean we must seek God in every earthly battle we fight.  From scripture we see that King David did this in his earthly battles with the Philistines.

We have tried to make it clear in “Violence and The Kingdom;” that all we do must be done for God’s Glory and His Kingdom.  There can be no fear or self-motive in the way we react in the battles we fight on earth.  That being said, it is clear from scripture that we have a God given responsibility to protect and fight for our families and those God places in our sphere of influence, from the attacks of the enemy of men’s souls. Not fighting in the flesh doesn’t mean we passively sit there and do nothing expecting God to send a lightning bolt from heaven. We must seek God’s wisdom, and do what we can do, trusting God to do the rest.

Having a weapon or not having a weapon won’t keep us from reacting carnally when we’re attacked.  Only learning to walk in The Spirit instead of the flesh will do that.  Peter seems to have learned this lesson when he spoke death over Ananias and Sapphira; something much more severe than cutting off an ear, but okay because it was done in The Spirit.  Walking across India carrying a large cross, we were confronted on more than one occasion by the radical Hindus.  On every occasion God gave us victory.  One time a large group rode up on motorcycles and scooters.  I could hear them coming up behind me and one of our coworkers whispered, “the radical Hindus are here”.  I prayed and God led me to wait until they were almost upon me.  When they were within a few feet I stopped, and without thinking lifted the cross off the ground and into the air. Then I stood it up in front of me.  The crowd instantly stopped in their tracks. I looked at the person who The Spirit told me was the leader, and asked, “Sir what is your question?”  He stood silent for a few seconds and then said to me, “I just want to tell you how happy we are to have you here in India.”  The crowd turned around, got on their cycles and scooters and left.  God had delivered us one more time.

Jesus told us we need to have a weapon for a reason.  It doesn’t mean we must use it to harm people, although we cannot say ahead of time what God’s Spirit might prompt us to do.  Part of God’s judgments is the release of wild beasts on the earth.  In 2013 there were 50,000 abandoned dogs roaming the streets of Detroit in packs of 20.  The Post Office could not even deliver the mail in some places because of the danger.  Only an assault weapon, which many want banned, can handle that kind of danger.  As we see it, if Jesus said we need a weapon then it was for a reason.  All we can do is obey and trust God to give us the understanding of how to use it.

We hope this message helps you understand about violence and The Kingdom.  God is loving, merciful and gracious in all His ways, but He is not a pacifist. Psalms 24:8 tells us He is mighty in battle against all that resist His Kingdom.   Even Jesus became violent when He saw His Father’s house being desecrated.  Let us join Him in the battle to bring His Kingdom on earth as it is in Heaven.
